Coach Franks returned to the high school ranks as Northern's (Calvert County) new coach. The first season he took a program
with only one winning season in 15 years and led them to the state semi-finals.
After 4 years of success at Northern he went to Calvert High and produced a State Champion football team in four years.
Prior to Franks' arrival, the school had never won more that 6 games in any of its previous 35 seasons.
He jumped back into the collegiate level as offensive coordinator at UCONN. He returned to Northern High School in 2002.
During the 2003 season, his quarterback completed over 65% of his passes and was selected to the Washington Post First Team All Metropolitan
Squad. He also received a full football scholarship to college.
Coach Franks is currently the head coach at Huntingtown High School. His teams have made the playoffs the past three seasons and
were state finalists in 2009.
During his 35 plus years of coaching, he has worked numerious camps and has developed the Jerry Franks Football Camps to provide
young people with the opportunity to maximize their ability.
In February 2008, Coach Franks was inducted into the Maryland High School Football Hall of Fame.
